About this species
Zenithoptera fasciata, also known as the rainforest bluewing, is a species of dragonfly native to much of the northern half of South America, as well as southern portions of Central America. The species has in the past been known by additional taxonomic names, including: Libellula fasciata, Libellula americana, and Libellula violacea.

Zenithoptera fasciata is een libellensoort uit de familie van de korenbouten (Libellulidae), onderorde Anisoptera (echte libellen). De wetenschappelijke naam van deze soort is voor het eerst voorgesteld als Libellula fasciata door Carl Linnaeus in de tiende editie van Systema naturae uit 1758.
De soort komt voor in Costa Rica, Trinidad en Tobago, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, Frans-Guyana, Brazilië en Peru.
Zenithoptera fasciata staat op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN als niet bedreigd, beoordelingsjaar 2007.
