Miathyria simplex is een libellensoort uit de familie van de korenbouten (Libellulidae), onderorde Anisoptera (echte libellen). De wetenschappelijke naam van deze soort is voor het eerst voorgesteld als Libellula simplex door Jules Pierre Rambur in een publicatie uit 1842.
De soort komt voor in Mexico (Nayarit, Colima, Veracruz, Michoacán de Ocampo, Oaxaca, Chiapas), Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Cuba, Trinidad en Tobago, Colombia, Guyana, Brazilië (Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo), Ecuador en Peru.
