About this species
Erythrodiplax basalis is een libellensoort uit de familie van de korenbouten (Libellulidae), onderorde Anisoptera (echte libellen). De wetenschappelijke naam van deze soort is voor het eerst voorgesteld als Micrathyria basalis door William Forsell Kirby in een publicatie uit 1897.
De soort komt voor in Trinidad en Tobago, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, Frans-Guyana, Brazilië, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Noord-Argentinië en Uruguay. Mogelijk komt de soort ook voor in Jamaica.
