Tripsacum laxum, the Guatemalan gamagrass, is a species of grass in the family Poaceae. It is a larger perennial bunchgrass of the Caribbean, Central America, such as in Nicaragua and Guatemala, and North America in southern Mexico.

Tripsacum laxum es una gramínea perenne que crece en macollos, puede llegar a medir 25 dm de altura, sus tallos son gruesos y posee abundantes hojas anchas y alargadas de color verde oscuro. Sus flores son inflorescencias monoicas, axilares y terminales.
Los cortes deben realizarse cuando el pasto está tierno, cuando tiene 1,5 m de altura aproximadamente. Los cortes se realizan cada 6 - 8 semanas.
