Hypopygus lepturus is a species of freshwater ray-finned fish belonging to the family Rhamphichthyidae, the sand knifefishes. This species is found in South America and is occasionally kept as an aquarium fish. It lives in freshwater and grows up to 10 centimeters long.

Hypopygus lepturus is een vissensoort uit de familie van de Amerikaanse mesalen (Hypopomidae). De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1962 door Hoedeman.

圭亚那下臀电鳗，为辐鳍鱼纲电鳗目短吻电鳗科的其中一种，为热带淡水鱼，分布于南美洲奥里诺科河及亚马逊河、圭亚那沿岸淡水流域，体长可达10厘米，栖息在底中层水域，生活习性不明，可做为观赏鱼。
