About this species
The painted electric ray or variegated electric ray (Diplobatis picta, sometimes misspelled pictus) is a poorly known species of numbfish, family Narcinidae, native to the western Atlantic Ocean from southeastern Venezuela to the mouth of the Amazon River in Brazil. It is common on soft substrates at a depth of 2–120 metres (10–390 ft).

绣花双电鳐（学名：Diplobatis pictus），又称绣花双电鲼，为软骨鱼纲电鳐目双鳍电鳐科双电鳐属的一种，被IUCN列为易危保育类动物，分布于西大西洋委内瑞拉、圭亚那、巴西海域，深度可达91公尺，本鱼背部浅棕色，有一系列深棕色斑点和白色和棕色斑点，胸鳍和腹鳍的外缘有不规则的圆形深棕色斑点，腹面白色，体长可达13.7公分，栖息在大陆棚沙泥底质海域，为底栖性鱼类，属肉食性，体内的发电器官，可能用来防御或捕食，生活习性不明。
