About this species
Ficus elastica, the rubber fig, rubber bush, rubber tree, rubber plant, or Indian rubber bush, Indian rubber tree, or rambung is a species of flowering plant in the family Moraceae, native to eastern parts of South and Southeast Asia. Its common names reflect its historical use as a source of rubber within its native range, but it is not used in the modern commercial-scale production of natural rubber.

Ficus elastica, llamado comúnmente árbol del caucho gomero o caucho sabanero, es una especie perennifolia del género Ficus nativa del nordeste de India (Assam), oeste de Indonesia (Sumatra y Java). Fue introducida en Europa en 1815 como planta de interior.

印度榕（学名：Ficus elastica），又名橡胶榕，印度尼西亚橡胶榕或说印度橡胶榕，印度橡胶树或印度橡树，属于双子叶植物纲荨麻目桑科榕属榕亚属常绿乔木。
因为含有白色黏液的乳汁，所以成为早期橡胶的来源，但也易被人误疑为橡胶树的一种，花果期为每年9月到11月。
印度榕原产锡金、印度东北部、缅甸、马来西亚北部、印度尼西亚（苏门答腊、爪哇）等地。
