About this species
Fragaria virginiana, known as Virginia strawberry, wild strawberry, common strawberry, or mountain strawberry, is a perennial North American strawberry that grows across much of the United States and southern Canada. It is one of the two species of wild strawberry that were hybridized to create the modern domesticated garden strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa).

La fresa de Virginia o frutilla de Virginia (Fragaria virginiana) es una planta herbácea perenne, de la familia de las rosáceas, que crece comúnmente en zonas con un suelo muy alcalino en Estados Unidos y Canadá. El híbrido de esta planta con (Fragaria chiloensis) creó la frutilla común de jardín (Fragaria x ananassa) o la comúnmente llamada fresa de jardín.

弗州草莓（学名：Fragaria virginiana）为蔷薇科草莓属的一种，是常见杂交种草莓（F. × ananassa）的两个亲本之一。它的自然种植区仅限北美的美国（包括阿拉斯加）以及加拿大。除此之外，英国也早在20世纪初便从美国引进了一种很受欢迎的变种“小红果”（Little Scarlet）。
