Entry Requirements

Entry fee or visa, the ICF form and your passport: what to sort out before you fly.

The short answer. Most visitors pay an Entry Fee of USD or EUR 50 online before they travel and fill in the free ICF form. A few nationalities need an e-visa, and CARICOM nationals pay nothing. Everything is done online, before you board.

Before You Go

Entry Fee, e-Visa or Nothing?

Which one you need depends on your passport. The official portal sorts nationalities into four lists: Entry Fee, e-Visa, eTourist Card and CARICOM. Fees as listed by VFS Global in October 2026:

WhatWhoCost
Entry Fee (single entry)Most visitors, including passport holders from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Brazil and ChinaUSD/EUR 50 + 8 service fee, per entry
Multiple Entry FeeThe same nationalities, for up to 5 entries within 3 months (tourism)USD/EUR 75 + 8 service fee
e-Visa (tourist)Nationalities on the e-visa list, such as India, Nigeria, Ghana, Pakistan and South Africa3 months: USD 60 / EUR 50; 1 year: USD 210 / EUR 175; plus service fee

Lists change. Check your own nationality on the portal before you book.

Step by Step

How to Apply

  1. Go to suriname.vfsevisa.com, the only valid portal since 10 August 2026. Look-alike sites charge extra.
  2. Choose Entry Fee or e-Visa for your nationality and pay by card.
  3. Save the voucher on your phone or print it. You show it at check-in and on arrival.
  4. Within seven days before arrival, fill in the free ICF form at icf.sr and save the QR code.
  5. Before you fly home, fill in the departure ICF form as well.

Apply a few days ahead: no official processing time is published, and e-visas can take up to about three days.

Mandatory

The ICF Form

The ICF form is mandatory for every trip into and out of Suriname, free of charge, and opens seven days before you travel. It asks for your passport details, where you will stay and what you are bringing in, and gives you a QR code. Without it, airlines will not board you.

The Dutch government says the form is for travellers aged 18 and over; the ICF site asks for a form per passenger. Filling one in for everyone in your group avoids problems at the desk.

People of Surinamese Origin: the PSA Card

People born in Suriname, or with a Surinamese parent or grandparent, can apply for a PSA (Persons of Surinamese Origin) card from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Holders need no visa or Entry Fee and no work permit, and the card is valid for five years. It is now issued digitally, with a QR code you can keep in your phone wallet. Fees were changed in 2025 and 2026, so check the current amount with the ministry before you apply.

Arriving by Land or Boat

The same rules apply at every border. The ICF form has options for the Albina crossing from French Guiana, the South Drain ferry from Guyana and the cruise terminals in Paramaribo. Ferry times and tips are in The Basics, and what you may carry is on the customs page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the Suriname entry fee?

The Entry Fee is USD 50 or EUR 50 per entry, plus a USD/EUR 8 service fee, paid online at suriname.vfsevisa.com before you travel. A Multiple Entry Fee for up to five entries within three months costs USD/EUR 75 plus the service fee.

Do Dutch citizens need a visa for Suriname?

No visa, but Dutch passport holders pay the Entry Fee online before departure and fill in the ICF form. A Dutch ID card is not accepted: you need a passport valid for at least six months.

Can I pay the entry fee on arrival?

No. Buy the Entry Fee or e-visa online before you fly. Airlines check your voucher at check-in, and the ICF form says vouchers cannot be bought on arrival.

Do children need an entry fee and ICF form?

Check on the portal when you book: the official sources we checked list no age exemption, so assume each child needs an Entry Fee. The ICF site asks for a separate form for every passenger, so fill one in for each child too.

Is the ICF form mandatory?

Yes, for arriving and for leaving Suriname. It is free at icf.sr, opens seven days before travel and gives you a QR code that the airline and immigration check.
