Raleighvallen is a series of rapids on the upper Coppename River, deep inside the Central Suriname Nature Reserve. Visitors stay on Fungu Island and explore the surrounding rainforest, which is rich in monkeys and birds, including the bright orange Guianan cock-of-the-rock.
The highlight is the climb of the Voltzberg, a 240 metre granite dome that rises above the forest. A guided day hike leads through the jungle to the bare rock, with wide views over the canopy from the top. Trips are by organised tour and usually last four days.
