The Openbare Markt is the public market of Nieuw Nickerie, on the G.G. Maynardstraat on the bank of the Nickerie River, with a fish hall behind the main building. Farmers and fishermen from the district sell vegetables, fruit, fish and other daily goods. It is open Monday to Saturday from about 06:00 to 13:00. Come early for the best fish.
