On Sunday mornings both sides of the Tourtonnelaan in Paramaribo turn into a long street market, also known as the Tourtonne flea market. Stalls sell second-hand clothes, books, electronics and household goods next to vegetables, fruit, plants, fresh crabs and cooked food. You can browse on foot or by bike, and many locals drive slowly past the stalls and buy from the car. Come early.
