Saoenah Markt is a Sunday morning market in Paramaribo-Noord, on the corner of Anamoestraat and Jozef Israëlstraat near Sana Budaya, best known for Javanese food. Stalls sell saoto soup, saté grilled over charcoal, nasi and bami, dawet, loempia, baka bana and other snacks, next to vegetables and plants. Come early, around 8 or 9 o'clock: popular dishes sell out and the market is over by about midday. Bring cash.
